We took a family vacation to Destin, Florida. It was great! Monica and Jasey had never seen the ocean/gulf, Taylor enjoyed it more b/c she was a little older, my dad had never been to the beach and Amber hadn't ever been to the beach. So, it was a great trip for everyone. No one was disappointed.
We took two vehicles and drove so that was interesting. Not too bad on the way down there but a little rough on the way home. We made it though. We stayed in this great condo just a hop skip and a jump away from the beach. We left on Friday evening, got there on Saturday and immediately went to the beach. After a stop at Walmart of course!
Monica and Jasey played on their boogie boards. I do believe this was their favorite thing to do at the beach at least. Taylor played with sand toys. Jason and Justin snorkeled a lot. The rest of us just sat back and enjoyed watching the rest of everyone.
We hunted for seashells daily. We walked and walked the beach. One morning we went down and had our coffee and one night we went down after dark and saw thousands of crabs. It was crazy!
We used and abused the pool at the condo, it was nice that it was right by ours. Our porched backed up to the pool.
We cooked dinner almost every night and every night right when we sat down for dinner, the ice cream man would come through. So up and outside we would all go to get our nightly ice cream. Taylor just didn't quite know what to think about this.
Jason, Blake, Justin and Jason went on a chartered fishing trip. I do believe this was the highlight of most of their trips. I know for sure Blakes. It was great that they all really enjoyed themselves. While they did that, we went outlet shopping. I know, all the way to Florida and end up at the mall, go figure!
The girls got to get their hair braided one evening. We all went to dinner that night at the Harborview and watched all the boats come in. It was a neat little area.
We went on a dolphin cruise. Saw quite a few dolphins and the kids got to drive the boat and fish. They enjoyed that. We all went to the Gulfarium. They had some great shows and exhibits to see. It was kind of like a mini Sea World.
Monica and Jasey decided they wanted to go parasailing. I had thought about going with them and then decided not to so Jason went. Amber and Blake set on the dock and waited for them. They LOVED it. I wasn't sure if they would or not and they did. They thought that was the coolest thing ever.
I think everyone really enjoyed their trip. Lots of firsts for everyone and lots of fun!
